That and it just helps replayability in general (and agreed that the dream sequences negatively affect it). ![]() You really step into her shoes, in that sense. From big stuff like how you wind up affecting Gregg and Angus' relationship if you spend a lot of time with Gregg, to little stuff like how Bea loses her nerve to go to the party if you don't come with her.Īnd I like reading about stuff like how people who connect to Mae a lot gravitate toward Gregg because he brings joy to an otherwise depressingly realistic situation, or how people whose interests are piqued by the idea of rekindling an old friendship get sucker punched by spending time with Bea because it's not as easy as they thought it'd be. But I enjoy the choice for thematic reasons, and for how it affects the lives of the characters themselves. I can see feeling that way as to its effects on you specifically - other than your evenings being spent differently, the effects boil down to changing the content of some scenes toward the end. I tried to look her up but I didn't find much, I believe she was a Weird Autumn addition.Īnyway, I feel like I sound a bit down on it here but I really really liked the game. Finally, this is more of a question, but did I miss something with the lady in the tunnel? She just sort of vanished as far as I can tell, and I thought she'd tell me more stories. Those two side stories tucked away under extra's are lovely, especially the second one. I don't know how many of them were added by the director's cut but I would have probably preferred a version of this game with less of them. I want to replay this game but I'm really wishing I could skip them if I were to do so. I like the dreams in theory, but boy do they kill the pace at times. ![]() They barely affect anything so I would have much rather been able do it all by giving me more days. That's to say, they just cause me to miss out on some content in a single playthrough. This made me choose who to hang out with, Persona style, but I don't feel like choices are justified. I would have thought a game like this could load areas in bigger chunks. And they happen constantly, for even the tiniest environments. The loading times aren't bad, but I wouldn't call them swift either. Whatever it is, it still felt like a solid port though. I don't know if this is a Switch port thing, a loading thing or whatever, and it really wasn't that bad. I don't have many technical complaints, but once in a while the game would stutter. I didn't even get to hang out with my man Germ again. They really didn't give me a whole lot of content in that epilogue though. It went so fast I'm not even sure if it made actual sense, but I'm assuming I saw a combination of gas leak induced horrors and eldritch abominations.Īnd while I'm okay with an open ending I didn't really get the sense that the game was actually about to end (aside from the chapter being called epilogue of course). I'm sure part of that rushed feeling was an intentional one but I think I would have enjoyed it far more if had continued to be a slower exploration based deal. I didn't necessarily mind the direction, I expected enough of it really, but I loved the slice of life content and I didn't expect the game to basically take over from me and cram all of the the cult business in a single day. You know, things just felt really rushed to me once the whole paranormal plot started to resolve itself. ![]()
